Rick McElhinney – CEO

Civil Engineer managing projects including marine and civil works for the Ridley Island coal loading facility in Northeast Canada.

Founded US based software company taken public in 1987 well known for providing computer solutions to engineering companies within the region. Worked in close association with Autodesk, Solidworks, Digital Equipment and Apple Computer.

Has held board positions in manufacturing and technology companies within the US, Canada and Australia.

Authored “Using AutoCAD” for Que Publishing Corporation, a division of McMillan Publishing along with articles for CAE Magazine, Desktop Engineering and Computer Reseller News. Speaker at such events including technology conferences(California & NY), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (Midwestern US), company technology days, University programs (US and Australia)and Apple Developer conferences (Ann Arbor, MI).

Co-Authored “Commercialising Innovation” with Rodney Overton in 2008. Designed for entrepreneurs, investors and mentors, the publication provides inspiration, ideas and knowledge to raise funds, invest in and to commercialise great ideas.

John Eales – CFO

One of the Foundation Partners of the firm, John has been instrumental in developing The Peak Partnership into one of Brisbane’s best known accounting practices. John is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) degree from QUT. A career financial professional, John’s other qualifications and affiliations include:

  • Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA);
  • Member of CPA Australia;
  • Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia;
  • Registered Tax Agent;
  • Registered Company Auditor;
  • Financial Planning Specialist accreditation with ICAA;
  • Authorised Representative of Professional Investment Services Pty Ltd – The Peak Partnership’s financial planning affiliate.

As a highly-respected practitioner, John represents both the ICAA and CPA Australia as the accounting profession’s representative on the Tax Agents Board of Queensland. He is also a director of the Abused Child Trust.

Michael Eales – Director – Corporate Development and Public Policy

10 years experience in corporate development, asset finance, relationship management and business development.

  • Creating and managing strategic alliances in the wealth management and intermediary debt markets
  • Market access strategies
  • New product and program distribution strategies in the Australian Financial Services industry, with a focus on sales channel development and operational matters
  • Early stage venture development with focus on Private Angel and Australian Government Relations
  • Debt structuring (asset based solutions and insurance premium funding)

Current member of advisor network to the State Government Entrepreneurs Forum, which assists Australian entrepreneurs and inventors to hone and commercialise their ideas.

Scott Cross – Director – Markets and Finance

Scott brings over 10 years experience in the Finance industry, having worked at Australia’s Largest Investment Bank, as well as running his own Import Export Company:

  • Strong understanding of both equity and debt markets
  • Accredited derivatives adviser
  • Sourcing, constructing and distributing derivatives based structured products
  • International Business experience.

Scott brings a strong knowledge of business development to the Voxsol Energy Team.

Shane Thatcher – Director – Trading

Shane has over 15 years experience in analysing and trading in energy and carbon markets throughout the world. As General Manager Trading and Marketing Shane established and managed the spot and forward electricity and renewable trading desk at InterGen; the largest private electricity generator in Queensland. More recently Shane established Ipsos Custodes Pty Ltd, which specialises in carbon and energy origination and trading. Through this business Shane has been involved in a number of start-up businesses in the energy and carbon space.

Shane’s specialty is in optimising revenue through effective and efficient Risk Management in volatile markets.

Rod Colwell – Director – Property

Rod Colwell is the co-founding Director of Insight Group. Rod is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the company’s industrial, commercial, retail and residential portfolio. He has invaluable experience in site identi?cation, acquisition, feasibility and due diligence drawn from a long career in the real estate industry.

Rod has the proven ability to build sound relationships with industry leaders and his particular ability to seek out and negotiate “off the market” transactions has proved invaluable to the company. Rod founded Insight Group in 2001

Kem Cross – Manager – Property and Aquisitions

  • Registered rural and urban valuer for approx 35 years
  • Accredited valuer for Native Title rights in Australia
  • Fellow of Australian Property Institute ( Valuation and Land Economy fields)
  • JP Qualified
  • Member of UDIA (Urban Development Institute of Aust)
  • Been involved in the property sector since 1969 in the fields of valuation, litigation/resumption, property development and consultancy services.
  • Currently employed as Qld Manager ( Property & Acquisitions) within the Energy sector in Qld

Peter Rosengren – Manager – Legal and Risk

Peter Rosengren is the head of Legal for Voxsol Energy. With twenty years experience in the legal profession, he has particular expertise in construction contracts as well as invaluable experience with all legal aspects of property development including risk management, contract formation and administration and financing.

Peter has earned a reputation as being results focused and bringing a refreshingly practical, fair and commonsense attitude to achieving those results.
